Studio Policy
Private Lessons
I offer violin, viola, or piano private lessons with a curriculum tailored to each student’s needs and interests. Lessons typically occur once per week for 30, 45, or 60 minutes at either a designated school, online, or my home studio. Parents are always welcome to sit-in or record lessons. For students in elementary school, I request a parent or family member be present to sit-in on lessons.
I host studio recitals at least twice a year at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters. Participation is open to all students in my studio and is not mandatory, but highly recommended.
Expectations
Practice: To have more productive lessons, students will be assigned practice plan at each lesson and are expected to practice regularly throughout the week.
Equipment/Materials: Students are required to have an instrument at their first lesson (see Parent Resources for tips on acquiring an instrument). Additionally, students will be expected to purchase their own music and lesson books as needed. It is important that students being all sheet music and notebook to each lesson.
Attendance
Excused absences: Excused absences are instances in which the payment for a missed lesson is not charged. For both during and after school lessons, students must cancel at least 24 hours in advance to receive an excused absence. In the event of an unplanned or day-of absence, please contact me ASAP to let me know. Exceptions for illness and family emergencies may be made on a case by case basis.
Unexcused absences: Unexcused absences are absences for which the full lesson amount will be charged. If a student attends school and does not show up to their lesson, that is an unexcused absence. If a parent or student forgets about a planned activity and cancels less than 24 hours in advance, that is an unexcused absence. An absence without prior notice remains unexcused regardless of reason for absence.
Rescheduled Lessons: If a student cancels a lesson more than 24 hours in advance, I will do my best to reschedule the lesson. I cannot guarantee rescheduling availability. If we cannot find a reschedule time that works for everyone, there will be no charge for the missed lesson.
Canceled Lessons: If I need to cancel a lesson, I will notify the student/parent as early as possible to reschedule the lesson. If a suitable time cannot be found to reschedule, there will be no charge for the missed lesson.

Family discounts are available for families with multiple students.
Payments
Monthly Payments: If you choose to pay monthly, payment is due by the next schedule lesson in the following month. An invoice will be sent out at the beginning of the month with the previous month’s balance.
Weekly Payments: If you choose to pay weekly, payment is due at each lesson. If you choose to pay weekly, you may not switch to monthly payments. You will also receive an invoice showing the payments received the preceding month with any remaining balance.
Late Payments: If you fall behind in payments, contact me and we can discus either pausing lessons, splitting up payments, or moving to bi-weekly lessons.

For all payments, be sure to include the student’s name and lesson date in the memo.
