I am an active violin teacher and performer currently centered in Houston, Texas. I grew up in North Carolina where I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro under Marjorie Bagley. I moved to Houston to continue my studies at the University of Houston in the studio of Dr. Kirsten Yon, earning a Master of Music degree in Performance and Pedagogy.

I began my musical journey at age five with piano lessons. Music quickly became a central part in my family’s house, when my dad began playing violin again. Three years later, I started taking violin lessons too. In high school, I started arranging string quartet arrangement for my family string quartet, which performed frequently at church and local retirement centers. Now, I arrange both church music and popular pieces for a variety of instrumentations.

Some of my performing highlights throughout my career have been traveling with the university orchestra on tour at the Kennedy Center, chamber concerts with the Triad Early Music Society, performing with the Global Dance Theater at the Texas Renaissance Festival, and premiering a number of works of local composers for chamber ensembles.

I first began teaching violin in my junior year of high school. I have taught violin, viola, and beginning piano lessons to students of all ages, including beginning adult students learning to play an instrument for their personal enjoyment. I was a homeschooler and Suzuki student, but my violin training incorporated a variety of teaching methods, including standard etude and exercise books as well as fiddling and hymns. She pulls from her eclectic background for her mixed style of teaching, combining the repertoire from the Suzuki Method books with traditional etude and technique books to meet the student’s needs and interests.

I currently teach private lessons at J. Frank Dobie High School in Pasadena I.S.D and out of my home in Bellaire, Texas teaching both in-person and online. When I’m not teaching or making music, I enjoy baking, running, embroidery, and reading fantasy novels.
